Lassen Volcanic National Park

Lassen was cold. I think it got down to twelve degrees fahrenheit overnight while I was sleeping here. Needless to say the struggle was real trying to get on the trail when I had a perfectly warm sleeping bag inside a vehicle that protected me completely from the twenty mph winds. Thankfully my bladder did it's job and I hustled myself to the visitors center where there were heated bathrooms for use.

Once I got that out of the way I couldn't wait to hit the trail.

If you visit Lassen in the winter be aware avalanches are a very real threat here, so keep an eye of the avalanche forecast and get yourself a beacon and rescue gear. Before you go out on the trails don't forget to sign out in the log book to indicate how many people are in your party, and where you're going so if something does happen NPS will know how many people to look for. On the same note don't forget to sign back in when you get back.

Unfortunately I had some issues with my snow shoes that I didn't get resolved until after my trip to Lassen so I only did one trail while here out to the sulfur works.
